Naturalista, fotografo e divulgatore scientifico
Nato nel 1988, si interessa, da quando i suoi sensi glielo permettono, di natura.
Muove i primi passi nell'ambito della fotografia naturalistica nel 1999, e fotografa per molti anni su diapositiva, per poi convertirsi, tardivamente, al digitale.
Guida Ambientale AIGAE ed istruttore di immersione subacquea, è laureato presso l'Università degli Studi di Milano in Scienze Naturali con due tesi di erpetologia.
Sue foto, articoli scientifici e divulgativi sono stati pubblicati su diverse riviste del settore, e nel 2007 ha scoperto una nuova specie di ragno in Sardegna. E’ autore e coautore di libri di identificazione e fotografici, l’ultimo dei quali è I TESORI DEL FIUME, oltre che di numerose mostre, proiezioni e conferenze, ed è docente in corsi di fotografia naturalistica. Diverse sue foto hanno vinto o ricevuto menzioni speciali in concorsi internazionali, tra i quali Asferico, GDT European Wildlife Photographer of the Year, BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year e Festival Mondial de l’Image Sous-Marine.
Intervistato da Lineablu di Rai1 per le sue fotografie subacquee, è attualmente consulente scientifico del programma GEO di Rai3 di cui è regolarmente ospite.
Ritiene che curiosità e passione, oltre al dovuto rispetto per gli ambienti naturali, siano il motore che debba muovere ogni umano; suo malgrado constata spesso come la legge di Murphy si applichi a pennello alle attività di fotografia naturalistica…

Marco Colombo was born in 1988; since he was a child, he was interested in nature, and looked for snakes, spiders, insects, touched tree barks, spied wild boars and foxes, admired the Sea and its colourful inhabitants. In 1999-2000 he started taking photographs together with his father, trying to join his passion for nature and congealing moments of natural life. He also starts making some research, especially on European scorpions and spiders, without forgetting his interests for all natural contexts. After learning main rules of photography, the meeting of some great wildlife photographers permitted him to improve skills and visions of surrounding world. He has been taking photographs on transparencies for some years, than he had to adopt a digital system (initially without conviction, but in the end satisfied). By 2002-2003 he started scubadiving, and this practice permitted him to see and take analogical photographs with the Nikonos V of some species hardly seen while snorkelling; by 2011 he takes underwater photographs with a Nikon D90 and an Isotta housing, both in the Mediterranean and in freshwater environments. Graduated with a thesis on nocturnal activity of the European Asp (Vipera aspis), he is currently studying Natural Sciences in Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy. He has published photographs, papers and divulgative articles on several magazines; he also wrote two books about terrestrial and marine invertebrates of Sardinia together with Bruno Manunza. He realized two exhibitions, the first about Sardinian wild orchids with Bruno Manunza (2009), and the second about Italian reptiles and amphibians with Matteo Di Nicola (2011-2012). Some of his photographs have won or received special mentions in some international photo contests, first of all the prestigious Veolia Environnement Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2011 in which he won the “Animal Portraits” category with the photograph of a grass snake near a little waterfall. He thinks curiosity and passion, together with respect and awe for natural environments, to be the strength that should drive any “être à deux pieds sans plumes”.
